Dear Sir,

fusy fall at Marth Point.

With reference te your request for an opinion regarding certain matters in connection with the construct- ion of the Quay Fall at North Point, which is now in progress, I have studied the Contract, Specification and certain of the Contract Drawings, besides visiting the site of the works and beg to submit my opinion on the following pointa:-

(1) The advisability of filling in the trench under the vall below the level of 30.00 with granite rubble instead

of sand.

(2) The affect such an alteration would have on the Contract price.

(3) Whether it is advisable to build the superstructure

of the wall immediately the blockwork substructure is

completed.

Item 1: It is considered that there would be a great risk of failure of the wall if the dredged trench were

filled with sand, and therefere granite rubble
